I love fixed-gears for their simplicity: the bicycle reduced to its essence. There's no boss for a rear brake but that's what the fixed-wheel's for-- you stop with your legs. Built up with an Ultegra front brake and reverse-pull handlebar lever to take the edge off the true fixie experience.
Classic Stem and Headset
As long as Japanese handlebar and stem builder, Nitto, is still in operation framebuilders will be building forks cut for quill stems. This bicycle features a Nitto stem (25.4 clamp) paired with a Campagnolo Record 1" threaded headset because I'm a sucker for parts that have been made the same way for the past 30 years.
All-City Cranks
Brand-new All-City crankset (in black) with equally new Sram 1/8" chain. Surly cogs on the rear wheel.
