Wilder: the one that will do it all, inspired by a 100-mile race on gravel roads.

The longer the ride the more you appreciate a bicycle made for long rides.

A relaxed geometry, long wheelbase, and mid-weight tubeset make the Wilder the closest thing to a hammock that I make.  A solid choice for long distances on bad roads, urban commuting, and fire-road adventures alike: well-rounded design results in a frame that will handle about anything with equal aplomb.  Prices start at $2500 for fillet-brazed frame, lugged fork, and Spectrum Powder Works finish.

Capricorn frame features

Room For Rubber

The Wilder has clearance for substantial 700x38mm tires. Big tires are safer, more comfortable, and last longer. Plus, Schwalbe's excellent winter tires fit with fenders.

Paul Racer Brakes

Cut in the CNC orchards of central California, these longreach center-pull brakes are modeled after the Mafacs on French-built randonnee bicycles from 60 years ago. Long leverage arms provide solid, reliable performance and a unique feel. Unlike Paul's cantilever brakes the Racers and the frame bosses are compactly above the tire. It's a tidy look and effective design with plenty of room for big tires and fenders.

Brass Chain Plate

A quarter-inch wide strip of brass, silver-brazed to the chain stay for a stately, if not over-done solution to dings from chain strike.
